Was anyone else surprised?

Appropriate title I would say and if your wondering what I am talking about; read on. As some people are aware, at least those of you that follow me on Twitter, I actually was nominated (and accepted) to the ITANS board of directors. To create change the best way is from within, and, I am going to damn well try and make some changes- FOR THE BETTER.

So that being said, I’ll move on to a more interesting subject- not really, still ITANS.

I ran an informal survey on Tech East surrounding the technology sector in Nova Scotia and I really wasn’t surprised in the responses. Some of them were:

  1. People are looking for better programs
  2. Improved leadership and representation for the industry
  3. Government lobbying

And the list goes on and on and on

Over the course of this informal survey I have had people actually ask what ITANS did. It’s true, there are people who have no idea what this association is suppose to accomplish. Others thought they only did a golf tournament.

I think the first step on the road to self help is to build a brand- obviously if people working in this industry think ITANS is a golf tournament the association is not working properly. Second step, think outside the box, I know that is cliche, but something new and effective needs to actually be done.

I agree with almost all the feedback I have received, however, I am still curious as to what people want to see from this Industry association? Comment on this blog entry or email me. I want to know what you want to see ITANS do to improve the industry in Nova Scotia.
